We are really excited to announce that Misogyny is Hate will be having its own block at the Reclaim the Night 2020 march, as making misogyny a Hate Crime is one of the flagship policies being demanded this year. We would love for you to join us!
This is a crucial chance to show Greater Manchester Police and other officials within our city that women do not feel safe in our communities and not enough is being done. A huge part of allowing women to Reclaim the Night as their own is simply by acknowledging the disproportionate threat of sexual violence and gender-based harassment and assault that women face.
There is overwhelming support for the implementation of Misogyny Hate Crime policy and yet still nothing has been done. Join us at the march to stand in solidarity with us and other other women from across Greater Manchester to show Greater Manchester Police it is time they act to protect their communities. It is time for hate against women to be seen for the dangerously embedded social issue it is.
Please note, due to the organisation of Reclaim the Night this is a woman only block. However, anyone is welcome to join the march and stand in solidarity with Misogyny IS Hate as there will be a mixed block as well. We will be posting the specific place to meet before the event and time very soon.
T-shirts will also be available to purchase at the event and we will be hosting a banner making session prior to the march, for which the date and time will be announced soon!

About Misogyny Is Hate
We are a group of women and men from the University of Manchester SU working with Greater Manchester Citizens to get misogyny recognised as a hate crime in GM. https://www.gmconsult.org/police-and-crime-team/hate-crime/
General Information
45% of women have been sexually harassed in a public place. We are fighting to get GM Police to recognise misogyny as Hate Crime, whilst playing a major role in shaping the national conversation around hatred and violence against women.
In Manchester, acts of hostility motivated by race, disability, sexuality, trans-identity, religion and alternative sub-culture are all recognised as Hate Crime. So why are women not protected?
