This is a solidarity event with the Abortion Rights Campaign‘s 6th Annual March for Choice 30th Sept in Dublin.

We will make 205,704 chalk markings on the pavement outside the Irish Embassy; making visible the 205,704 Irish and Northern Irish women who have travelled to Great Britain for an abortion since the 8th Amendment in 1983.

The main gathering with speeches will begin at 2pm sharp, so please arrive promptly. Banners and signs are very welcome. If you’re on Twitter, feel free to use the hashtags #205kTravelled and #TimeToAct.

We hope you can join us to stand in solidarity with the women* who have made this journey and to demand legislative change which guarantees choice.

30 September 2017 13:00 ~ 6th Annual March for Choice – Edinburgh Solidarity Demo – Scottish Irish Abortion Rights Campaign

Join us on Saturday 30 September in Edinburgh to stand in solidarity with the 6th Annual March for Choice in Dublin organised by the Abortion Rights Campaign.

The Annual March for Choice assembles every year in Ireland to show support for the full repeal of the 8th Amendment in the Republic of Ireland, and proper legislation in Northern Ireland.

Last year gatherings took place in over 30 cities to show solidarity with the campaign to end the restrictions on reproductive rights across the island of Ireland. This year Scotland will have gatherings in both Edinburgh and Glasgow due to the growing support for the campaign since the solidarity gathering this time last year (see photo!) and the Strike for Repeal Gathering in March.

Let’s keep up the momentum and show the Irish Government, and ALL governments that are increasingly seeking to restrict the reproductive rights of their populations, that we will not accept their draconian violations of our rights.
