A dialogue with emerging female designers influenced by Indian tradition
Design is present in every part of our daily lives — from the utensils we use to cook to the clothes we wear, and the technology we interact with constantly. Among contemporary designers, there is a consciousness as to what ‘Indian design’ is, and how an Indian aesthetic might be represented. In this discussion, cultural commentator Priya Khanchandani of the Victoria and Albert Museum dialogues with emerging female designers — Flora Bhattachary and Spandana Gopal — who are pushing boundaries of design by melding different aesthetics to produce striking results.
