Migration Matters Festival is a pay what you feel arts and theatre festival called an annual celebration in Sheffield during Refugee Week. This year it is taking place the 20-24th June and we have a very exciting programme of events and performances which raise awareness about the circumstances of migration.
Some events might be of particular interest to women:
- Why Refugee Women’s workshops ‘Talk that Talk and ‘Women and Peace’
- ‘Women only Celebration’ from Together Women
- SBC Theatre Company piece called ‘Tanja’ which stars and is based on the experiences of Emily Ntshangase-Wood who was previously detained in Yarls Wood, and who has bravely been touring the piece with the company for the last year.
There a further 45 or so events taking place all with a performative or celebration focus and so I thought it would be great to inform you and the members of the organisation about it, in case you were able to help publicise the events. Any help circulating to regional contacts for whom the programme may spark interest would be much appreciated!
