The latest Femicide Census report, published in December 2018, reveals that 139 women killed by men in 2017, and 40% of cases featured ‘overkilling’. Three quarters (76%, 105) of women killed by men were killed by someone they knew; 30 women were killed by a stranger, of whom 21 were killed in a terrorist attack.

This week, Imkaan launched From Survival to Sustainability, a new report which outlines critical issues for the specialist black and ‘minority ethnic’ ending violence against women and girls sector in the UK. The report, which is funded by the Oak Foundation, presents an analysis of the funding situation and trends affecting specialised services for BME women survivors of VAWG in the UK.

A Way Out are seeking to recruit an experienced and dynamic Complex Needs Worker (full time, contract/temporary, £20,546) to join their established Liberty Team in a new role working in partnership as part of the team led by Durham Tees Valley Community Rehabilitation Company (DTV CRC) working across Cleveland.  The role will be part of a multi-agency team offering an assertive community outreach and recovery service targeting vulnerable females who are at risk of offending.

Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums’ ‘Women of Tyneside’ project are hosting a Festival of Women from March-June 2019. TWAM are inviting organisations of share their events and activities so they can promote and celebrate collaboratively through the printed programme which will be distributed across Tyneside early next year.
