13 November 2014 9:30 ~ Stacey Hyde final appeal hearing – Justice for Women – London & 14 November 2014

Join Us In Protesting Outside The Royal Courts Of Justice And Attending Stacey’s Hearing!

09:30 (both days) protest outside Royal Courts of Justice
10:30 (both days) attend Stacey’s hearing (open to the public)
Royal Courts of Justice, The Strand, London, WC2A 2LL

Please support Stacey’s last chance to fight for justice. She was a vulnerable adolescent, who had suffered from a history of mental health problems and sexual violence.  Her only crime was to react disproportionately, out of fear, to a man’s violent attack on her and her friend.

Stacey will be represented at court by her lawyers who will argue that there is fresh evidence (based on expert evidence from an adolescent psychiatrist) to support a defence of diminished responsibility, that would reduce her conviction from murder to manslaughter. If the court accepts the defence’s submissions, Stacey’s life sentence for murder will be substituted for an appropriate sentence of manslaughter. As Stacey has already served five years in prison, it is likely that this would lead to her release from custody. If the court dismisses the appeal, Stacey will have to return to prison to complete her life sentence.
