Mini-Masterpieces; the first ever Rape Crisis Tyneside and Northumberland Postcard Art Exhibition and Auction features over 150 exclusive pieces of postcard-sized art work. These are original pieces that have been donated by artists from across the north east and beyond, all of the artwork comes together to form an exciting four week exhibition, with each piece to be auctioned both online and offline, to raise funds for Rape Crisis Tyneside and Northumberland.
Why are we doing this? Events like these are vital in raising funds for Rape Crisis Tyneside and Northumberland. We think that little commitments, little donations or little moments of empathy make a huge difference. That’s why we’ve asked a selection of artists and friends of the charity, to donate something small (a postcard) which will come together to make something great; a whole exhibition featuring a selection of wonderful original art.
Who are the artists involved? Some significant artists from across the UK, as well as celebrities and friends of the charity have created postcard sized original artwork, from pencil sketches, tapestry, oil paintings, collages, acrylics and more. Some names you might know include Alexander Millar, Ross Millard of The Futureheads, Pete Fowler, Carol Rosetti, Kate van Sudesse, Sarah Graham and so many more! If you check our news pages, you can see which artists are donating postcards so you can start to plan which ones you’d like to bid on!
How to bid? The bidding will take the form of a silent auction over four weeks, both online (here) and in our partner gallery, North East Art Collective in Eldon Gardens in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. All of the postcards will be exhibited in the gallery and shown here and bids will be taken from 7 November to 2 December. Either complete a bidding form online or pop into the gallery; read more about bidding here.
On 3 December, when the exhibition has closed, we’ll notify the highest bidders and send out the artwork in good time for Holiday gifts!
When and where? The exhibition will launch on Friday 7 November and will close on Tuesday 2 December, with a celebratory closing party at the gallery. Tuesday 2 December is an international day of ‘giving’ to charity, under the guise of ‘Giving Tuesday’ this is already an occasion in its own right, which encourages people globally to donate money to charity; we’ll be joining in with this worldwide event with our exhibition closing soirée!
The exhibition will be hosted by North East Art Collective – an art gallery like no other in the centre of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, showcasing limited edition and original artwork from over 100 of the best artists in the north east region: North East Art Collective, 45 Eldon Gardens, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 7RA
